Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop 2D and 3D mechanical components and assemblies using CAD software. The candidate will be responsible for creating detailed manufacturing drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and supporting CNC manufacturing and production teams to ensure high-quality, cost-effective product development.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design and develop 2D and 3D mechanical components, assemblies, and products using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or NX).
- Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T as per industry standards.
- Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering documentation.
- Develop assembly drawings, exploded views, and fabrication drawings.
- Collaborate with CNC programming, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability of designs.
- Modify and improve existing designs based on production feedback and customer requirements.
- Ensure designs comply with engineering standards, customer specifications, and quality requirements.
- Support prototype development, testing, and product validation activities.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding manufacturing feasibility and technical clarifications.
- Optimize designs for cost reduction, ease of manufacturing, and improved performance.
- Prepare Engineering Change Notes (ECNs) and update design revisions.
- Maintain design records, drawing revisions, and document control.
- Provide technical support to production during manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow company quality systems, safety standards, and engineering best practices.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks/Creo/CATIA/NX (3D CAD).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in preparing manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and assembly drawings.
- Understanding of GD&T, engineering tolerances, and drafting standards.
- Knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal, fabrication, or mold manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with materials, machining methods, and manufacturing constraints.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
