Job Description (JD)
We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer – Mazak with strong expertise in Mazatrol programming to develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for precision machining operations. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with Mazak CNC Turning and/or VMC machines, a thorough understanding of machining processes, tooling, cutting parameters, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
The candidate will be responsible for creating efficient CNC programs, selecting appropriate tools, optimizing machining cycles, troubleshooting programming issues, and collaborating with production and quality teams to ensure high-quality and cost-effective manufacturing.
Experience in CNC Turning and/or Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) will be an added advantage.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and optimize CNC programs for Mazak CNC machines using Mazatrol programming.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, GD&T, and process sheets to create accurate machining programs.
- Select suitable cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and work-holding devices based on component requirements.
- Determine and optimize machining parameters, including spindle speeds, feed rates, depth of cut, and tool paths.
- Perform program prove-outs, first-off inspections, and make necessary program modifications to achieve dimensional accuracy.
- Optimize machining cycle times while maintaining product quality and maximizing machine productivity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve CNC programming, tooling, and machining-related issues.
- Coordinate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth manufacturing operations.
- Support machine setup, tool offset setting, and process validation during new product development.
- Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, customer specifications, and quality standards.
- Maintain and update CNC program documentation, tooling records, and setup sheets.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce machining costs, and minimize material wastage.
- Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and 5S practices within the manufacturing facility.
- Assist in training machine operators and junior programmers on machining processes and best practices.
- Continuously monitor machining performance and implement process improvements for higher efficiency.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Mazak CNC Machines and Mazatrol Programming.
- Experience in CNC Turning and/or VMC Programming.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and work-holding systems.
- Knowledge of cutting parameters, feeds & speeds, and cycle time optimization.
- Experience with tool selection, tool offset setting, and process optimization.
- Ability to troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, Bore Gauges, and
Dial Indicators.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
