Job Title: Junior Design Engineer
Experience Required: 1 to 2 Years
Software Proficiency: AutoCAD, SolidWorks
Key Core Skills: Engineering Measurements, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), 3D Modeling, 2D Drafting
Job Type: Full-TimeAbout the RoleWe are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Junior Design Engineer with approximately 1 year of hands-on experience in mechanical drafting and product design.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable translating engineering concepts into accurate production drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. A strong understanding of engineering measurements, shop-floor metrology, and GD&T standards is essential for ensuring high manufacturing quality.
Key Responsibilities
3D Modeling & 2D Drafting: Create detailed 3D parts, complex assemblies, and production-ready 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. GD&T Application: Appropriately apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and surface finishes on engineering drawings in compliance with industrial standards.
Measurement & Quality Alignment: Utilize knowledge of precision measurement tools (Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.) to evaluate physical prototypes or components against digital designs.
Design Modification & Optimization: Update existing drawings and models based on engineering change notices (ECNs), feedback from quality control, or shop-floor testing.
Documentation: Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM), part lists, and technical documentation for manufacturing.
Cross-Functional Support: Coordinate closely with the manufacturing, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure designs are cost-effective and feasible for fabrication (DFM - Design for Manufacturing).
Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience: 1–2 years of relevant experience in a design/manufacturing environment (Internships will be considered if project exposure is robust).
Software Skills:
Proficiency in SolidWorks (Part modeling, Assembly, Sheet Metal, and Detailing).
Proficiency in AutoCAD for layout design and 2D legacy drafting.
Technical Knowledge:Fundamental understanding of GD&T principles and stack-up tolerances.
Sound knowledge of workshop measurement instruments and inspection processes.
Familiarity with material selection, basic manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, casting, etc.).
Soft Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, keen attention to detail, and effective communication skills to work well within a team
