Develop CNC programs for 5-axis CNC lathe/turning and machining operations.
Create and modify CNC programs based on production drawings and 3D models.
Convert CAD designs into production-ready CNC toolpaths.
Work with CAD/CAM software to design, simulate and optimize machining programs.
Understand and interpret technical drawings, dimensions and tolerances.
Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, speeds, feeds and machining strategies.
Set up and operate CNC machines and conduct trial runs.
Perform tool-path simulation and collision checking before production.
Optimize programs to reduce machining time, material wastage and tool wear.
Develop programs for complex and intricate furniture components.
Work closely with the Furniture Design, Production and Quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable.
Troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues.
Identify and correct dimensional, surface-finish and machining problems.
Establish standard machining processes for repeat production.
Maintain and organize CNC programs, drawings and revision records.
Train and guide CNC operators and junior programmers.
Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements.
Ensure production follows required quality standards and specifications.
Assist in developing new CNC-based furniture components and manufacturing techniques.
Furniture-Specific Responsibilities
The candidate should be comfortable working with solid wood and engineered wood components and understand the requirements of furniture manufacturing.
