Job Title : Design Engineer (SolidWorks)

Roles & Responsibilities
3D Modeling & Design
Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
Design mechanical parts, sheet metal components, weldments, and assemblies as per project requirements.
Design Development
Translate product concepts and customer requirements into functional, manufacturable designs.
Perform design calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and material selection.
Documentation
Prepare and maintain detailed engineering drawings (GD&T), BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical specifications.
Ensure drawings comply with industry standards (ISO/ASME) and company documentation protocols.
Design Validation
Conduct basic simulations/analysis (stress, motion, or interference checks) using SolidWorks Simulation, where applicable.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams for DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) reviews.
Prototyping & Testing Support
Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting of design issues.
Work closely with the production/shop floor team to resolve manufacturing-related design challenges.
Collaboration
Coordinate with procurement, production, quality, and R&D teams to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
Liaise with vendors/suppliers for custom components, when required.
Continuous Improvement
Suggest design improvements for cost reduction, performance enhancement, and manufacturing efficiency.
Stay updated with new SolidWorks features, tools, and industry design trends.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks (Part Modeling, Assembly, Drafting; Sheet Metal and Simulation is a plus).
Good understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes (machining, casting, sheet metal, fabrication, etc.).
Basic knowledge of materials, tolerances, and mechanical design principles.
Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems is an added advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred (Good to Have):
Knowledge of other CAD tools (AutoCAD).
Exposure to FEA/CFD tools.
Experience in a Machine Manufacturing industry domain
