Job Purpose
The Design Engineer is responsible for product and mold design, engineering documentation, project coordination, and maintaining engineering records. The role acts as the central communication link between customers, sales, design, purchase, tool room, machining, assembly, quality, and production to ensure projects are completed on time with complete documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Design plastic components, molds, jigs and fixtures.
Prepare 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
Perform DFM (Design for Manufacturability).
Prepare BOM (Bill of Materials).
Update revisions as per customer feedback.
Release approved drawings for manufacturing.
Coordinate activities between:
Sales Team
Customer
Purchase Department
Tool Room
VMC Machining
EDM & Wire Cut
Surface Grinding
Assembly
Quality Department
Injection Molding
Dispatch
Follow up with each department daily to ensure project milestones are achieved.
Maintain complete status of every project.

Prepare a Daily Project Status Report.
Maintain engineering documents including:
Customer Drawings
Design Files
CAD Models
CAM Files
NC Programs
BOM
Tool Drawings
Inspection Reports
Trial Reports
Customer Communications
Revision History
Ensure all files are stored in the designated folder structure with proper version control.
Maintain a searchable archive of previous projects.
Responsible for:
Organizing old project folders.
Updating revision history.
Retrieving old files whenever required.
Preventing duplicate work.
Maintaining backup of engineering data.
Clarify technical requirements.
Send design approvals.
Attend technical discussions.
Record customer changes.
Coordinate sample approvals.
Maintain Engineering Change Notes (ECN).
Update revised drawings.
Inform all departments regarding revisions.
Ensure obsolete drawings are removed from production.
Support manufacturing by:
Solving machining issues.
Providing revised drawings.
Updating tool modifications.
Supporting trial activities.
Reducing rework through engineering improvements.
Standardize design practices.
Develop reusable design libraries.
Improve design cycle time.
Maintain lessons learned from previous projects.
Daily Responsibilities
Review project status every morning.
Coordinate with all departments.
Update project tracker.
Release manufacturing drawings.
Follow up pending activities.
Update customers if required.
Maintain engineering records.
Close completed projects.

Diploma / B.E. Mechanical / Production / Tool Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
2โ5 years in Plastic Product Design, Mold Design, Tool Room, or Manufacturing.
